In January 2021, Russia saw an 8.2% annual increase in food inflation, with an overall consumer price index rise of 5.2%, while the European Union (EU) experienced a 1.1% increase in food consumer prices. The most significant monthly consumer price increases were in Armenia (2.2%), Turkey (1.7%), Germany (1.4%), and the Czech Republic (3%). The largest annual increases were in Turkey (15%), Kyrgyzstan (10.1%), and Belarus (7.7%). Within the EU, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland saw the most significant monthly increases in food prices. Vegetables, oils, fats, fish, and seafood experienced the highest price increases in Russia and the EU.
