Christmas is perhaps our most intimate holiday, around which a complex ceremony has been built over the centuries. Family members, friends, acquaintances, and colleagues give each other gifts, and everyone sets up a Christmas tree at home. This custom began its conquering journey from 16th-century Germany and was introduced to Hungary in 1824 by Countess Teréz Brunszvik at her property in Martinsvásár.
