The National Food Safety Authority's report has shown a notable increase in the export and import of food consignments. The report indicates that 5,220 food consignments, totaling about 266,000 tons, were exported by 1,710 companies, with fresh vegetables, fruits, and various food products being the main exports. Potatoes, onions, and beans were the top exports among vegetables, while citrus fruits, grapes, and strawberries led the fruit exports. The Netherlands, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, and Portugal were the largest recipients of these exports. On the other hand, Egypt received 1,730 food consignments, amounting to about 580,000 tons, from 740 companies, with 140 varieties of wheat, raw sugar, soybeans, and oils being the main imports. Russia, Brazil, Ukraine, America, and Bulgaria were the primary countries exporting to Egypt. Alexandria Port was the busiest in food export and import activities.
