Abel Hernández Lima, a producer in Atltzayanca, Tlaxcala, is testing five varieties of California peaches in three technological orchards, with a harvest expected between May and July. The validation center has been in operation for eight years and has 50 new peach varieties to be released by the end of the year. The orchards are equipped with advanced technology such as an anti-hail mesh, micro-drip irrigation system, and organic antifreeze is used to protect the plants from frost. The goal is to develop new peach varieties with larger size, better color, and higher Brix degrees.
