A study by Pápai Hús in Hungary has found that the nation is largely meat-consuming, with 90% of consumers eating meat several times a week. The research also indicated that 55.6% of respondents consider the fat content of meat products and 29.5% eat fish most often. Despite the economic climate, 93.7% of consumers would pay more for higher quality meat. The tradition of fasting is declining, with 68.4% of respondents not observing the Christian custom of abstaining from meat. However, vegan, plant-based meat substitute products are popular among those who still fast. Pápai Hús' meat substitute products are known to 46.7% of customers who are familiar with such goods.
