In July 2020, Vietnam saw a slight increase in tea exports, reaching 13.4 thousand tons with a value of $ 22.2 million, despite a slight decrease in price compared to the same period in 2019. The first seven months of 2020 saw a slight increase in both volume and value of tea exports compared to the same period in 2019, with the average export price decreasing by 9.1%. The export price is expected to increase due to a global shortage of tea, with production in many countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Malawi, decreasing due to adverse weather and social dislocations caused by the COVID-19 epidemic. However, Kenya has seen an increase in production. Vietnam's tea exports to some markets, such as Pakistan, have decreased, while exports to Russia, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates have increased.
