Spain: Foreign sales of Manchego cheese increased 4.6% in 2020

The export of Manchego cheese has registered an increase of 4.6% in 2020, when more than 11.7 million kilograms were sold abroad compared to the 11.2 million kilograms exported in 2019. Specifically, the 69.2% of the total produced, while last year this figure stood at 67.3%, according to data from the Regulatory Council of the DO Queso Manchego. Regarding production, last year it registered a growth of 1.7% compared to the previous year. Thus, it has gone from producing 16.3 million kilograms in 2019 to 16.9 million kilograms in 2020. The United States is consolidated as the most consuming country and the first foreign destination for Manchego cheese. In fact, almost half of all foreign sales are concentrated in this country.
