Former CHP Edirne Deputy Okan Gaytancıoğlu criticizes Turkey for importing vegetable oil instead of supporting domestic production, stating that the country spent 6 billion dollars on imports last year and could approach 10 billion next year. Gaytancıoğlu points out that Turkish farmers are not receiving support and are therefore giving money to farmers in other countries, leading to a decrease in domestic oilseed planting and an overreliance on imports. He calls for incentives to be made to support domestic production and prevent the country from spending billions on imports.
