France saw a significant increase in pepper imports in November 2021 compared to the previous month and year, with a total of 1,150 tons imported at a value of EUR 6.05 million. From January to November 2021, France imported 11,750 tons of pepper valuated at EUR 48.19 million, marking a 5.8% increase in volume and 25.9% increase in value compared to the same period in 2020. The average import price per ton of pepper also rose to EUR 5,261 in November 2021. The majority of the pepper imports came from the German and Dutch markets in the internal market, while imports from Vietnam and Indonesia increased for the external market. The share of pepper imported from Vietnam in the total French imports also grew from 37.61% in 2020 to 40.81% in 2021.
