Record-breaking export prices for Norwegian fresh salmon have reached a new high of NOK 112.46 (£9.03) per kilo, marking a 9% increase and surpassing the previous record set in May 2022. This rise is attributed to a combination of factors, including falling salmon biomass in Norway, which was 2.4% lower in January than the previous year, and reduced output from Scottish salmon farms. Despite the higher prices for fresh salmon, frozen salmon prices have remained relatively stable. A total of 14,905 tonnes of fresh salmon was exported last week, with a slight increase in frozen salmon exports.
