The European Commission has published a regulation in the Official Gazette, amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1793 to temporarily strengthen official control measures on certain foods imported into the EU, including those of non-animal origin from third countries like Vietnam. The Ministry of Industry and Trade reports that the Commission will review these lists every six months and increase the frequency of pesticide testing for Vietnamese vegetables, spices, and fruits. Despite challenges, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports to the EU have seen significant growth, reaching 88.5 million USD in the first 8 months of 2021, but still only accounting for 0.36% of the EU's import volume.
