The cost of cultivating 100 hectares of industrial hemp is on average 2.9 million UAH, and the net profit from the sale of the crop (seeds and shives) amounts to up to 4.6 million UAH. This was stated by Oleh Prymak, head of the department at the Institute of Bast Crops of the NAAS, during the workshop "European Green Deal and Changes in the Food Menu," which took place on September 26. He added that depending on the direction of production, the size of the profit varies. The size of the profit also depends on the availability of own processing: "Processing of hemp seed crop into oil brings an additional profit of 6 million UAH, and the crushed seeds bring 10 million UAH. Processing of hemp shive crop into short fiber and tow yields an additional profit of 1.7 million UAH," says Oleh Prymak. He presented two calculation options in the table.
