The price of Brazilian zucchini has reached a record high of BRL 6.46/kg on August 19, 2021, due to supply shortages caused by adverse weather conditions in late-July. The coldest weather in over 25 years caused frost damage to zucchini crops in São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and Parana, the main producing states. This has resulted in an increase of BRL 2.31/kg (+63%) month-on-month, and the highest price since the series began in 2014. The cold weather is expected to continue, supporting high prices in the next month.
