REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) asserts that the recent news about frozen shrimp from Indonesia being recalled by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is an old case, not a new finding. Head of the Fisheries Product Quality and Safety Control Agency (Badan Mutu KKP) Ishartini said that the FDA and Badan Mutu KKP already have official communication channels. Therefore, if there is a new finding, the FDA will notify through official channels and announce it on their official website. “Until this moment, we have not received any notifications, let alone new cases. Instead, we received a notification that Indonesian shrimp with the SMKHP (Fishery Product Quality and Safety Certificate) Free of Cesium-137 issued by the MMAF is starting to enter the American market,” said Ishartini in Jakarta, Friday (12/26/2025).
