Vietnam has seen a significant growth in the export of processed vegetables and fruits, with double-digit increases from 2016 to 2020. However, there was a slight decrease in growth in 2019 and a slower growth in 2020 due to transportation difficulties. In the first nine months of 2021, there was a 13.7% increase in export turnover of processed fruits and vegetables compared to the same period in 2020, reaching 65.42 million USD. The main export markets include China, USA, Japan, Korea, Russia, and Australia. Despite the growth, the processing industry only meets 8-10% of the annual output of vegetables and fruits, and post-harvest losses are still high at over 20%.
