The Southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey has experienced a 46% increase in exports in May compared to the previous year, reaching $827.45 million. Gaziantep, the region's major contributor, saw a 54% increase in exports, amounting to $742.63 million. The region has set a new record for the highest May exports to date, with a total of 171 countries receiving exports. From January to May 2021, the region's exports increased by 38% year-over-year, reaching $4.457 billion. Gaziantep was the fifth largest exporter in Turkey during this period with exports valued at $3.911 billion. The most exported products include textiles, raw materials, carpets, cereals, pulses, oilseeds, chemicals, wood and forest products.
