Poultry producers in the country are facing a crisis due to a shortage of poultry feed, with over 200,000 birds at risk of death. The price of chicken feed has surged by 60% for 'wheat bran' and 50% for corn, due to the global supply chain disruption caused by the war in Ukraine. The situation is severe, with poultry farmers struggling to feed their birds and facing potential job losses. The managing director of Gam-Holland Heavens feed producers, Assan Secka, has urged the farming community to grow more maize to sell to poultry feed producing companies, which could generate extra income for them. He also called on the authorities to address the crisis and look into the sector to prevent job and income loss.
