Gangwon Province, steps forward for the recovery of inland fishery resources

Gangwon Province has recently taken action to restore its inland water resources, which have sharply declined due to environmental changes and the nesting of common loons. Gangwon Province announced that it released a total of 300,000 juvenile largemouth bass (over 5 cm in length) produced locally, starting in Hongcheon County on the 7th and continuing until August 13 in fishing areas of Inje, Cheolwon, Yeongwol, and Wonju, five cities and counties where fishing activities are active. The largemouth bass, a representative native fish species in Korea, is also known as "geureongchi" and "geureongcheongi," and is popular for its chewy and savory taste, making it a key income species for fishermen in spicy soup.
