Spanish garlic growers are hoping for a favorable weather condition for a good harvest this year after completing the planting. The crop's success is still uncertain due to the unpredictable weather. The sector is expecting a better sales season as they are currently facing a poor market with high stock from the previous harvest and increasing competition. Interajos, a company from Extremadura, has reduced the cultivation area from 100 to 80 hectares and has focused on selling garlic to Portugal. Garlic companies in Extremadura are also expanding their production to areas in Castilla-La Mancha and Portugal due to the need to allow the land to rest before re-sowing.
