The German pig producers association ISN published the ranking of the country's main slaughterhouses for the year 2024. The year 2024 was marked by significant structural changes in the German slaughterhouse sector. In particular, the withdrawal of Dutch company Vion from the German market in early 2024 caused some changes. The southern Bavaria producers association (Erzeugergemeinschaft Südbayern) acquired two slaughterhouses (Landshut and Vilshofen) from the Dutch group, appearing for the first time in the ISN slaughterhouse ranking. Consequently, the share of the top 10 slaughterhouses dropped to 76.5% (2023: 82.5%). Tönnies remains by far the leader in the ranking of Germany's main pig slaughterhouses. The 5.6% drop in pig slaughter in 2024 should not obscure the company's continued growth trajectory.
