The Federal Information Center for Agriculture (BLE) has reported a decrease in feed production by 7.6% in the 2021/22 season, totaling 22.9 million tons. This is due to a reduction in the number of pigs. The production of feed for pigs was the highest at 9.1 million tons, followed by cattle feed at 6.5 million tons. The production of soybean meal slightly exceeded that of rapeseed meal, with 2.43 million tons and 2.42 million tons respectively. However, the trend of replacing soybean meal with rapeseed has stopped due to a smaller rapeseed crop in Germany and a crisis in Ukraine. Legume production increased by 14%, with peas, sweet lupins, and beans showing the highest growth. The processing of grain for animal feed has also decreased, with barley and triticale experiencing the most significant reductions.
