The Ghana Civil Society Cocoa Platform (GCCP) has called on the European Union to financially support the cocoa sector to ensure sustainability. This appeal was made during the GCCP's 2024 Annual General Meeting in Accra. The meeting was attended by stakeholders in the cocoa value chain and focused on advocacy for sustainable cocoa farming. Other discussions included the need for fair cocoa pricing, transparency in the farmgate price-setting process, and the implementation of the LID policy. The Ghana Cocoa Board also announced progress in the registration of farmers for the Cocoa Traceability programme and the implementation of the EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR) in the cocoa sector.
