Support for local fisheries through the distribution of seaweed seeds is continuing in Gijang County, Busan. Gijang County announced on the 15th that it has distributed 600 trays (15 hectares in cultivation scale) of locally produced seaweed and kelp seeds to local fisheries. This distribution of seeds is the second one following the distribution of 950 trays of seaweed seeds in November, as a result of the "Gijang-type seaweed seed production research" by the Fisheries Resources Research Center. The research center, which received 30 million won in funding from the Kori Nuclear Power Plant project in July, successfully promoted research on promoting the growth of seaweed indoors, resulting in improved seed quality and high-density seaweed seed production, which is favored by fishermen.
