With proper management and the use of drip irrigation technologies, Peru can position itself as a strategic player on the global cocoa stage, taking advantage of the situation faced by major international producers. Holy Week 2025 was one of the most expensive —and bitter— in recent years due to the sharp increase in the international price of cocoa, a fundamental raw material for chocolate. According to the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO), between October and December 2024, prices soared by more than 60% in the main markets of New York and London, reaching historic levels above $11,000 per ton.
