Global meat consumption is expected to increase by 47.9 million tons over the next ten years, according to projections from the "OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2025-2034" publication. On average, annual per capita consumption is expected to grow by 0.9 kg per person per year, considering edible retail weight. However, in high-income countries, consumption tends to stagnate, reflecting growing concerns about animal welfare, environment, and health. With lower dependence on imported pork, there has been a retraction in production in the main exporting countries. The same downward trend is observed in Chinese chicken meat purchases.
