The recent "2025 China Tree Nuts Annual Report" released by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) shows that over the past decade, China's walnut prices have been on a downward trend as domestic production has surged. With production growth slowing, market prices seem to have bottomed out since the end of 2024. The walnut harvest for the 2025/26 season began in early September. According to local traders, the purchase price for Yunnan in-shell walnuts is 15 yuan per kilogram, up more than 30% from the previous year. Similarly, the selling price for Xinjiang walnuts in the 2025/26 season is also higher than the previous year. Walnut traders believe that the price increase benefits from strong demand in the international market.
