A new report by IndexBox forecasts a 3% increase in global sugar production in 2021, reaching 193M tonnes, due to favorable weather conditions and exemptions on neonicotinoid usage in major producing countries. This growth is expected to offset the decrease in production from Brazil. The report also anticipates an increase in global sugar exports by 2.6% to 39M tonnes, with Thailand compensating for the reduction in exports from Brazil. Despite the increased supply, global sugar prices are projected to remain stable in the next two years. The report also highlights the dynamics of the global sugar market, including the dominant role of Brazil in exports, and the major importers such as Indonesia, China, and the U.S.
