Netherlands: Goat milk price is finally picking up

According to the milk price comparison of LTO Melkgeitenhouderij and Agrimedia, the weighted average advance milk price was 70.27 euros per 100 kilos of standard milk in September and 74.89 euros in October. The October price was therefore 8.10 euros higher than the August milk price. The increase is not only the result of higher market prices, but also of higher contents in the standard milk. The milk price often rises slightly in the winter months anyway, because the milk price per month is calculated on the basis of the components supplied at that time. 'In the winter months, before the lambing season, the goats give less milk, but the contents are higher. The milk price increase this year is greater than in other years,' says Henk van Roekel, board member of LTO Melkgeitenhouderij and Dairy portfolio holder within that department.
