Thailand's Department of Foreign Trade is accelerating the expansion of the cassava export market to the Philippines due to high demand for Thai cassava as an alternative raw material for animal feed production, following the conflict between Russia and Ukraine driving up prices of maize and other grains. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing event is set for November 6, 2022, in Nakhon Ratchasima to negotiate the sale and purchase of Thai cassava chips and pellets worth over 20 billion baht annually. The Philippines' feed industry has a high demand for Thai cassava, and in the first nine months of 2022, Thailand exported 8.73 million tons of cassava products, valued at 115,478.55 million baht, to the Philippines, its 8th largest trading partner.
