Government announces support for the peach chain in southern Rio Grande do Sul

The Federal Government announced, this Monday (22), an investment of R$ 4 million for the acquisition of whole peach juice through the National Supply Company (Conab). The operation provides for the purchase of 890 thousand liters of the beverage, a volume equivalent to 1,160 tons of fresh peaches, focusing on the South region of Rio Grande do Sul, the main peach production hub in the country that faces difficulties in marketing the crop. The announcement was made by the president of Conab, Edegar Pretto, during a meeting held at the Paço Municipal de Pelotas. According to him, the measure seeks to respond to the challenges faced by local producers. “This is a concrete action to support the peach chain, guaranteeing income for farmers and providing quality food for public policies,” he stated.
