The Minister of Productive Development in Peru, Néstor Huanca, has announced plans to collect around 80,000 tons of hard yellow corn to supply the livestock sector, with the new harvest expected to ensure the production and price stability of eggs, chicken, beef, and pork. In 2021, over 57,000 tons of this corn type were exported, a significant increase from previous years. The minister also mentioned achievements in the production of sorghum and sugar, with expectations to reach over one million tons and 11 million quintals, respectively. To support the population's diet and align with the food security policy, the government has issued a decree to regulate the export of corn, sorghum, and sugar, ensuring their availability in the domestic market.
