The Indian government has announced the establishment of a tuna cluster in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as part of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) to bolster the fisheries sector. Located in a region with an Untapped Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of approximately 6 lakh square km and rich sea resources, particularly tuna, the cluster aims to stimulate economic growth through sustainable fishing and effective administrative measures. The plan includes organizing investor meetings, implementing training programs, and providing exposure visits for stakeholders, building on the government's previous initiatives and investments in the sector since 2015.
