The government of Tanzania is working in collaboration with Farm Africa and other stakeholders to enhance the agriculture value chain, with a focus on benefiting entrepreneurs and improving the economy. The Ministry of Agriculture is encouraging smallholders to add value to their produce to secure markets, and has a specialized department for marketing agricultural products. Farm Africa is implementing a project to provide business development services and technical assistance to emerging horticultural enterprises in Tanzania, funded by the Norway Development Aid Agency (NORAD) until December 2021. The project has supported 30 horticultural processors, aiming to minimize post-harvest losses and create employment opportunities. The initiative has been successful in providing markets and offering employment to women and youth in Kisarawe, as reported by a local woman and the Director of SECH Food Product.
