The European Public Prosecutor's Office conducted checks and searches in Athens regarding the spending of European funds, informs BNR. The European Public Prosecutor's Office and the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) carried out a surprise search at the offices of a government agency for the distribution of European funds. Computers, hard drives, and mobile phones of all employees were seized. The investigation also includes the activities of three consulting firms, which are suspected of possible irregularities in the distribution of European funds. According to preliminary information circulated by Greek media, this investigation is linked to the revelations of the theft of euro subsidies in the agricultural sector. Projects worth around 500 million euros and how these funds were exactly implemented are being investigated.
