Greek olive oil in Russia may double in price

The cost of Greek olive oil in Russia may double due to a poor olive harvest in Greece and rising selling prices from producers of the finished product. The owner of the export company Kalinina, member of the board of directors of the Greek-Russian Chamber of Commerce, Elena Kalinina, reported this to RIA Novosti. She noted that in Greece oil prices are now at the level of €13-15 (RUB 1,260-1,460). “These are previous deliveries, prices for new batches are higher,” Kalinina said. At the same time, according to her, the cost of the product in Russia is now lower than in Greek supermarkets. “Now we have a car undergoing customs clearance in St. Petersburg, they took literally one pallet of oil and only to maintain the remainder. And the price is incredibly high, and no one will take it at the new price,” the expert said.
