Green peppers from Gyeongnam Province to be discounted up to 50% at over 800 Nonghyup Hanaro Mart locations nationwide

(Changwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Jeong-hoon = Gyeongnam Province, together with the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (Nonghyup), began a special discount sale of green chili peppers at Nonghyup Hanaro Marts nationwide starting on the 15th.

From the 28th, green chili peppers from Gyeongnam's Cheonyang region will be sold at up to 50% off at approximately 800 Nonghyup Hanaro Marts and Nonghyup direct sales stores nationwide.

Green chili peppers, with high production in Miryang and Jinju cities, are a specialty of Gyeongnam Province.

Gyeongnam Province explained that green chili peppers from the region account for 95% of the volume brought into the Seoul Garak Wholesale Market.

However, due to the recent economic downturn, consumption contraction, and increased supply from good crop conditions, green chili pepper prices have fallen by more than 50% compared to last year.

The province expects this discount sale will provide consumers with high-quality green chili peppers at reasonable prices and help preserve farm income by expanding demand.
