Exports of cherimoya, a crop predominantly grown in the Costa Tropical of Granada and Axarquía of Malaga, to the European Union have seen a slight increase of over 1% in this agricultural season. According to the Center for Technical Assistance and Inspection of Foreign Trade, companies in the province of Granada have exported over 1.65 million kilos of the fruit to the EU until December, compared to the same period last year. Portugal was the main recipient, with over 109,000 kilos, followed by Germany and France. The cherimoya export campaign lasts about nine months from September to May.
