The Argentina Alimentos slaughterhouse, located in Gualeguay, Entre Ríos, has decided to shift the focus of its activity and increasingly devote more efforts to sheep processing while progressively reducing the volume of cattle. This news should not go unnoticed by lamb producers, as one of the flaws in the chain is the scarcity of plants dedicated to this species that operate in sanitary, commercial, and tax formality. Maximiliano Bellesi, one of the owners of the family business, explained that the shift responds to different issues. The lower supply of cattle, their high prices, the rise in energy, wage, and logistics costs associated with this activity skyrocketed and the business stopped being attractive for this type of plant, while sheep now appear as a more profitable and manageable alternative.
