(Gunsan=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Jinbang = Gunsan City, North Jeolla Province, announced on the 3rd that it will carry out the purchase of 2025 rice for public reserve grain until the 31st of next month (dried rice).
The varieties are Sinddongjin, Haepum, and Garusal, totaling 6,411 tons. The purchase price is set based on the national average price of rice at the production site.
The purchase will be conducted at 14 designated locations within Gunsan City, and rice will be either inspected before being stored in the warehouse or directly shipped to the warehouse after inspection.
In particular, a separate purchase will be made for rice damaged by natural disasters.
Additionally, the city plans to verify the consistency between the variety registered by the farmers and the actual variety through sample collection for variety testing. Farmers who violate this will be restricted from participating in public reserves for five years.
Kim Sang-gi, Director of the City's Food Policy Division, said, "We have made thorough preparations to repay the hard work of the farmers this year" and "We will do our best to provide guidance to farmers and respond on-site according to the schedule by town, township, and neighborhood."
