The Gyeongbuk Province is joining forces with a filler specialty company to develop next-generation filler materials by adding biotechnology to its 4,000-year-old sericulture industry. The Gyeongbuk Province Sericulture and Insect Industry Center recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Philcocospharm Co., Ltd., a filler specialty company, to develop 'silk protein-based fillers'. Philcocospharm specializes in fillers, functional cosmetics, and medical bio-materials, and has been consistently launching new products in domestic and international beauty and medical markets. This agreement is part of Gyeongbuk's strategy to transform silkworm cocoons into high-value-added bio-materials, utilizing fibroin silk protein for next-generation filler development.
