(Gyeongnam Goseong = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Seon-gyeong = Gyeongnam Goseong County announced on the 12th that it will launch and sell 'Goseong Eagle Rice' together with the Goseong Geoje Tongyeong Agricultural Cooperative Joint Business Corporation.
The Goseong Eagle Rice brand incorporates the story of young eagles that fly 3,000 km from Mongolia every winter.
The eagles stay in the rice fields of the Goseong area and return to their home in Mongolia in the spring.
The county plans to export this Goseong Eagle Rice to Mongolia itself, reflecting the connection with these eagles.
The county plans to sign an export agreement for Goseong Eagle Rice in Mongolia by the end of this month and also hold a promotional event.
Rice produced in Goseong has mainly been sold domestically, with some previously exported to the United States.
Along with rice exports, the county plans to sign an ecological protection and exchange cooperation agreement with Mongolia National University and the Mongolian Ornithological Society, and will also work on eagle conservation activities.
A county official said, "We expect the eco-friendly agricultural product brand 'Goseong Eagle Rice' to contribute to increasing agricultural income in the region."
