(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Jeon Jae-hoon = The Central Avian Influenza (AI) Response Headquarters announced on the 12th that H5 type AI antigen was confirmed at a broiler duck farm in Buan, North Jeolla Province.
The Central Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency is currently conducting a detailed examination to determine if it is highly pathogenic.
The broiler duck farm in question detected the H5 type antigen during a regular inspection under the special disease control measures.
The headquarters is highly likely to determine the H5 type AI antigen detection as highly pathogenic, and has deployed an initial response team to the farm to implement control measures such as access control, culling, and epidemiological investigation.
In addition, to prevent the spread of highly pathogenic AI, a 24-hour temporary movement restriction order has been issued for all related poultry farms, slaughterhouses, and livestock facilities and vehicles nationwide.
The headquarters urged the strict adherence to basic disease control measures, such as refraining from entering areas where migratory birds may come into contact with the virus, disinfecting vehicles entering the farm, and changing into dedicated boots before entering the barn.
This year, highly pathogenic AI has occurred three times in poultry farms since September, in a native chicken farm in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, a goose farm in Gwangju, and a broiler hen farm in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
