(Hadong=Yonhap News) Reporter Park Jeong-heon = 'Okjong strawberries', a specialty of Hadong County, Gyeongnam Province, have become the first domestically produced strawberries to reach Brazilian tables. According to Hadong County on the 18th, the 'Okjong strawberry Brazil-Singapore export shipment ceremony' was held recently at the Okjong Agricultural Cooperative in Okjong-myeon. This marks the first time that domestic strawberries have been exported to Brazil. The significance lies in the fact that Hadong strawberries have expanded their reach from their main Asian markets to the Latin American market. The quantity being exported to Brazil and Singapore this time is 1 ton, worth 30,000 dollars. The county evaluated this export as proof that the quality competitiveness of Hadong strawberries can prevail even in countries with diverse climates and consumption environments. Furthermore, the county plans to diversify export countries and establish a stable overseas distribution network, focusing on Okjong strawberries, green tea, rice, and processed agricultural and food products. Okjong strawberries are characterized by their high sugar content and the harmonious blend of acidity and flavor, resulting in a strong taste. A county official said, "This export is the result of the recognition of the excellent quality and efforts of Hadong strawberries in the global market" and "In the future, we will continue to venture into overseas markets focusing on high-quality agricultural products to increase the added value of our agriculture."
