(Haman = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Jong-ho = This year's watermelon experience program at the Haman Watermelon Exhibition Hall, which opened in Haman County, Gyeongnam, designated as a 'Watermelon Industry Special Zone,' has received high praise with over 4,600 participants. According to Haman County on the 22nd, the Haman Watermelon Exhibition Hall, built in 2010 with a two-story structure, was constructed in Gunbuk-myeon to promote the region's specialty watermelon. The exhibition hall features an indoor watermelon display and experience area, and an outdoor greenhouse-style botanical garden where visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers. The experience program, which ran from April to last month, consisted of learning about the growth process and characteristics of watermelons, and activities such as making watermelon keychains and bags. During this period, over 3,200 children from 127 kindergartens in 11 cities and counties in the province and 1,400 adult visitors participated in activities to experience the excellence of Haman's watermelons. Considering that the exhibition hall, which combines the first and second floors, has a total area of approximately 512 square meters and the average number of visitors per year is around 200, the county explained that this year's experience program greatly helped attract visitors. A county official said, "We will do our best to increase satisfaction for child and family visitors by operating various programs in the future."
