Harvest has started for jujube in Turkey

Harvest rush has started for jujube, the geographical indication registered product of Demirci district of Manisa. Farmers, who go to the gardens from the early hours, drop the ripening jujubes onto the covers they spread under the trees with a shaker and poles. The jujubes placed in sacks are left to dry in the shade. After about 10 days of drying, the jujubes are sent all over the country. Demirci Chamber of Agriculture President Mehmet Karakaya, in his statement, said that the production of the product, which was registered as "Demirci jujube" last year, increased every year in the district.
