In Samsun's Çarşamba district, 50 yield hazelnuts are currently trading at 300 TL. According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), as the hazelnut season in Çarşamba, the district that produces the most hazelnuts in Turkey with 40,527 tons in 2024, comes to a close, producers are satisfied with the prices. 50 yield hazelnuts are currently finding buyers at 300 TL.
Sharing his price expectations, hazelnut trader Yaşar Çakır said, "I previously predicted that prices would reach 300-350 lira. However, with this trend, hazelnut prices could rise above 400 lira."
Advising producers to sell their goods gradually, Çakır said, "There are places on this flat terrain where hazelnuts have not been collected at all, with a maximum of 20% collected. It is best to wait and sell the hazelnuts slowly. If they are all dumped on the market at once, prices could fall. But I don't think prices will drop much this year. Producers should take ownership of their goods and sell them slowly at the price they want. Hopefully, the numbers will reach the levels I predicted."
