According to Conny, the use of regrowth cane or aged seedlings continues to be one of the major obstacles in production, as these plants accumulate diseases and pests over the cycles, compromising the productive potential and generating significant economic losses. The executive sums up the problem directly by stating that planting old cane means investing in a sickly future, with lower vigor, shorter lifespan of the cane field, and increasing management costs. As an alternative, MultiCropsPlus bets on the production of seedlings through meristem technology, free of pathogens and capable of breaking the cycle of diseases in the field.
