South Korea's Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters has reported a confirmed case of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza at a meat duck farm in Gyeongsangnam-do, marking the 26th such case during the 2024-2025 winter season. In response, the headquarters is implementing detailed inspections and will deploy a specialized team from the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency to provide technical support and inspection. Additionally, over 427 farms will be inspected until the 24th to prevent the spread of the infection. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has urged local governments to inspect and enhance quarantine management in poultry farms and migratory bird arrival areas due to the high risk of virus transmission during the Lunar New Year holiday.
