Highly pathogenic AI breaks out in 30 cases... Confirmed in Jeungpyeong layer farm and Naju broiler farm

This winter, the number of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) cases has surpassed 30. The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for Highly Pathogenic AI (Head Song Mi-ryeong, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) announced on the 3rd that H5N1 highly pathogenic AI was confirmed positive at a laying hen farm in Jeungpyeong, North Chungcheong Province, and a duck farm in Naju, South Jeolla Province. These are the 29th and 30th cases in poultry farms nationwide during the 2025-2026 winter season. The headquarters explained that as soon as H5 antigens were detected at the two farms, an emergency response team was deployed to implement quarantine measures, including access control, culling, and epidemiological investigation.
