In 2020, the Region of Murcia produced 18 tons of hops from 11 hectares of land, primarily for beer production by the Estrella de Levante company. The region is considering expanding hop production to 50 hectares by 2025, following experimental trials that began in 2018. The general director of Agriculture, Remedios García, praised the crop's suitability for rainy, limestone soil areas and highlighted the industry's potential for rural development and environmental innovation.
